Italy Itinerary-2022

Day 1 - Halifax to Rome

Depart Halifax (or other Canadian city) for Rome

Price in this itinerary includes flight from Halifax. Flights can be arranged from other Canadian cities and Sandy Travel will be happy to quote on prices from other gateway.)

 

DAY 2 – Rome

Meals Included – D

  • Once checked in at hotel, feel free to do personal exploration of Rome or even rest after the flight. Centrally located hotel allowing access on foot to iconic sites and good shopping.
  • 5:30 - We meet in hotel lobby for our “Welcome to Italy” reception.
  • 6:45– Dinner at a local restaurant for the opening night meal and festivities.

 

Day 3 – Rome

Meals Included – B

  • 9 am - We depart on a panoramic Rome City Tour  seeing such sights as  the Ancient ruins of the Roman Forum, Vatican, Colosseum, Trevin  Fountain,  Spanish Steps and other iconic locations.
  • Guided tour of Roman Colosseum
  • 1pm Lunch on your own with the remainder of the day free to explore including a possible personal visit to the Vatican.

 

DAY 4 – Rome to Cortona and Tuscany

Meals Included – B, D

  • After breakfast there is a time to return to a historic sites or visit a café you saw on your travels and sip in a little more of Rome! 
  • Late morning departure for Cortona, the village made famous by the movie, Under the Tuscan Sun. Free time for lunch in the village center and to explore region on foot.
  • 5:45 pm arrive in the heart of Tuscany. Tonight we dine together, sharing a four course dinner, at the Villa.

 

DAY 5 – Tuscany: Full day excursion to San Gimignamo and Siena

Meals Included – B

  • 9:00 am    Wear your walking shoes, as we visit the walled village of San Gimignamo. Encircled by 13th-century walls, its old town is lined with medieval houses.
  • 11:00 am   We continue exploring Tuscany, arriving in Siena where lunch is on your own. A guided tour of the cathedral and the town. Some free time for shopping before we return to our accommodations. Evening free.

 

DAY 6 – Tuscany: Countryside tour and craft shops.

Meals included – B/L

  • Starting our day we travel to Anghiarti, where we find the Busatti linen palace, a 150 year old family business.
  • Then we travel to a picturesque Italian family home for a beautiful full service lunch. No rushing here as we savor the sights and the culinary experience.
  • Dinner on your own.

 

Day 7 – Tuscany: Italian landscape inspires food production

Meals included – B/L/D

  • We start at an organic farm where we will learn and observe many things including the importance of lavender in their honey production. A rustic Italian lunch will be served at the farm.
  • Return to the Villa around 2:30 and the remainder the afternoon enjoy the Tuscany valley
  • In the evening, we visit a neighboring villa to learn about an olive oil production, and enjoy a winery tour and tasting followed by a lovely dinner.

 

Day 8 – Tuscany: Full day trip to Florence

Meals included – B

  • Guided walking tour in the famous central region of the city where the famous Duomo Cathedral is, as well as the statue of David and many famous museums and sites.
  •  After the walking tour lunch is on your own and the balance of the day and evening you are free to explore Florence, city of culture and art.
  • Dinner on your own.
  • We will depart back to our accommodations at 730 pm

Day 9 – Travel to Modena and on to Venice region.

Meals included – B/L

  • 930 am depart the villa. Arrive Modena for a stop a balsamic vinegar estate tour and tasting in world famous region for balsamic vinegar.
  • Lunch included on site.
  • Depart Modena at 230 and at Venice region hotel in Mestre around  5:00pm
  • Dinner on your own.

 

 

Day 10 – Venice

Meals included – B/D

  • Today is a Venice day. We take the train for our 10 minute transfer on to Venice Island meeting our private water taxi for a 35 minute cruise through the Grand Canal to St Mark’s Square.
  • A guided walking tour of the cathedral and the region around central Venice.  Around 1pm the tour is over and you can have lunch and continue to explore this city of canals and streets.
  • In In the evening 6:30, we meet for our final group dinner at a favorite local restaurant where we will be served local Northern Italian cuisine.

 

DAY 11 - Venice to Canada – time to say “Arrivederci” to Italy

Meals included - B

  • 8:45 am Transfer to airport

At this time you can book your tour with no deposit and space will be reserved for you.

On November 1st  2021 a $500.00 deposit (per person) to retain your seat on the tour.

April 7, 2022- $1,250.00 per person is due

July 7, 2022 Remaining balance is due

 

All payments once made become nonrefundable.

 

Travel Insurance (trip cancellation and medical) is available from Manulife including a coverage for Cancel for any reason (CFAR)
